Elk Country Alliance organizes an archery competition

ELK COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Keystone Elk Country Alliance has combined fitness and archery to create a multi-day challenge.

The first annual Elk Country Alliance Archery Challenge is a three day event. Competitors face various challenges to win a check for $250, a cooler, a backpack and a trail camera. There is a 3D recreational trail open to the public as well as youth events, vendors etc.

Friday July 29:

  • 2pm-4pm – Check-in/check-in
  • 3 p.m.-8 p.m. – 3D course open (on registration only)
  • 4:00 p.m. Welcome course/challenge competition

Saturday July 30:

  • 7:30-8:30 a.m. – Check-in/check-in
  • 8:30 a.m. – Welcome and opening ceremonies
  • 9pm-1:30pm – Qualifying rounds for head-to-head races
  • 10am-6pm – 3D course open to pre-registered shooters & general public
  • 3:00 p.m. – Semi-final and final for head-to-head races

Sunday July 31:

  • 9:00 a.m. – Challenge race pack
  • 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – 3D course open to pre-registered shooters & the general public
  • 1 p.m. – Closing ceremonies & draws

Those who enter will face a variety of challenges. Each requires different skills, making sure the competition is fair.

VShallenge descriptions:

Challenge course – Competitors will traverse several different obstacles, including shooting challenges while being timed.

Head-to-head races – Competitors will be paired in side-by-side timed races. The races will include sprints, shot saves and agility challenges.

pack race – Competitors will run approx. 2 miles with a weighted bag and will perform various archery shots.

3D course – Accessible to competitors or the general public. This 30 target course will test shooting skills.

The grand prize is offered to both a high level competitor and a high level competitor.
