Whitetails Unlimited is a national nonprofit conservation organization founded in 1982. Its mission is to raise funds to support educational programs, the improvement and acquisition of wildlife habitats, and the preservation of hunting tradition and shooting sports for future generations. Since its inception, the organization has spent nearly $116,000,000.00 on projects such as research, wildlife agency assistance, habitat improvement/acquisition, scholarships studies, teaching materials, hunter safety/education, anti-poaching measures and cooperation projects with other conservation organisations.
The Blackford County Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited held their first banquet on March 16, 2019. Since that date they have provided over $54,000.00 in grants in Blackford County. Past grant recipients include Christian Outdoor Ministries, Blackford County Veterans Associations, Montpelier Civic Center, Montpelier Volunteer Fire Department and several others. “We are a non-profit organization. Funds are raised for conservation purposes through sports banquets. From the start, our goal was to start a NASP archery program in Blackford County. We have continued and survived as a functioning chapter throughout the pandemic to make this goal a reality. said Mike King, president of the Blackford County chapter of Whitetails Unlimited.
