XO Boats announces the new DFNDR 8

Finnish boatbuilder XO Boats, known for its sturdy deep-V aluminum hull boats, has announced its latest model, the XO DFNDR 8.

The DFNDR 8 will be available in two different versions, one with open “safari” walls and another with fully closing side screens. It will be semi-customizable. For example, the open version can be configured for a more closed cabin boat by choosing the fixed side windows as an extra. Designed for sport fishing, day cruising or heavy weather travel, the XO DFNDR 8 will also have an option for a cabin aft wall with a sliding door.

The new model will feature a step-by-step layout, with a mid-level raised deck on the bow that can convert into a full-size sunbed. The saloon passenger seats can be converted into a bed for two, and like its sister model, the XO DFNDR 9, the DFNDR 8 will come with a separate headboard.

“What sets the new DFNDR 8 apart from its competitors is undoubtedly its phenomenal handling qualities in difficult weather conditions. While testing the prototype of this boat, I was really excited about how we managed to improve this feature, which was already great in all XO models,” says Erkki Talvela, CEO of XO Boats.

The standard power will be a 300 horsepower outboard. A single 450 hp V8 or two 225 hp V6 engines are available as options. With two engines, XO claims the DFNDR 8 will reach speeds in excess of 50 knots.

Production of the XO DFNDR 8 is expected to begin next fall.
